About Baan Legal

A Practice Built Around the People Who Need It Most

We started Baan Legal because families in difficult moments deserve clear, compassionate legal support — not just efficient paperwork.

Our Story

How Baan Legal Came to Be

Baan Legal was founded in Hat Yai by a small group of legal practitioners who noticed something consistent in family law work: the process itself was often adding to the distress families already felt. Formal language, hurried appointments, and offices that felt impersonal were not serving the people who walked through the door.

The name "Baan" means home in Thai. It was chosen deliberately. We wanted to create a practice where families feel safe enough to speak honestly — where the pace of a consultation is set by the client's needs, not by the clock.

Since opening in Hat Yai, we have worked with families across Songkhla on matters ranging from early conversations about what is possible, through to formally drafted agreements and court representation. We handle each matter carefully and keep clients informed throughout.

We do not advertise outcomes we cannot predict. Family law is shaped by individual circumstances, and we believe in describing what we can do clearly rather than making pledges that might not hold. That honesty is part of how we work.

More About Our Work

Family Law in Southern Thailand

Hat Yai is the commercial and social centre of southern Thailand, and Baan Legal is one of the few practices in the Songkhla region focused specifically on family matters. Families in our area face the same range of situations as anywhere — changes in relationships, questions about children's living arrangements, concerns about shared assets, and the sometimes difficult process of formalising new circumstances.

Many people who come to us have not worked with a solicitor before. They are often uncertain about the process and wary of committing to something they do not fully understand. We take that seriously. Our first session is designed specifically to give people the information they need to make their own decisions — not to push them toward any particular course of action.

For families that include both Thai nationals and foreign residents, we have experience working with the specific considerations that arise — documentation requirements, language, and where applicable, the interaction between Thai law and other jurisdictions. Hat Yai's position as a border city means these situations arise more often than in other parts of Thailand, and we approach them with appropriate care.

Legal support in family matters is most useful when it reduces uncertainty and creates a clearer path forward. That is what we focus on at Baan Legal — not complexity for its own sake, but genuine help at a difficult time.
